Synopsis: The battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. The famous King Leonidas leads 300 of his personal body guards to defends the pass against Xerxes and his Persian army.

Review: Wow, this film is legendary. So many memes have been spawn from this film alone. But of course this review will focus more on Lena Headey, the British actress from Bermuda. Its great to see the kind of work that made Lena Headey popular, playing a Queen. Yes she does a great job at it.

Leonidas.

Leonidas!

Ready for battle!

Both Leonidas and Xerxes are highly trained warriors. Although it was not shown in the film, Xerxes was a trained expert in his field of leadership. He really had to be good at what he did or he would not control so much and no one would listen to him, but Xerxes is not the front line fighting type. Leonidas is the truest form of bad ass warrior there is. Leonidas is a strong willed, apex predator, meat eating, mega Alpha who will fight and die dead to the last man for what he believes in. This guy is so extreme, I bet he could bite a hole in a brick wall if he felt like it at the time. Gerard Butler defiantly has a presents about him in this film. He does a solid job as the boss with a blood lust. Xerxes looks like a Oscar award come to life in this film. Its defiantly a strategic war in this film. Leonidas wants to rebuild the Phoenician wall in order to funnel Xerxes forces into the Greek phalanx causing Xerxes to lose the battle and Xerxes wants to out flank the defenses of Leonidas so that he can eliminate the Greek fighters and take Athens.

Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo.

Lena Headey

Lena Headey is great as a Queen. She is just simply great. She has that presents similar to Queen Cersei in Game of Thrones but less evil and sinister. She is a mother like in the show. Seeing Lena Headey play Queen Gorgo is like looking at Cersei Lannister in a parallel dimension. In one universe, Cersei is the Queen of Westeros and in another universe she is Queen of Sparta. I admire her strength and how she finds a way to continue on matter way happens.

This film is not bad at all. It was very entertaining. This film is by no means realistic. Leonidas fights straight up monsters in this movie, but oh well. You defiantly get a whole lot from this film. This movie has a great look to it that has now become very iconic. I really like how the creators of this movie and the comic took very good creative license with this film. Good job on Frank Miller and Lynn Varly for starting it all. You feel as though this movie has a whole world unto its self, like it has its own history, its own physics, its own world unto its self. If your looking for sword fighting, action, loads of violence, and ancient battles, you might like this movie.
