The top 10 British Actress movies
Score: "C"
Director: Simon Kinberg
Stars: Sophie Turner, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence.
Synopsis: Jean Grey is exposed to an unknown force while earth is under attack by a group of evil aliens.
Review: The X-men are sent into space by the President of the United States to rescue a space shuttle full of astronauts. On their rescue mission Jean Grey ( Sophie Tuner ) is invaded by and alien energy that changes her from the inside.
Sophie Turner’s acting ability is definitely getting better with time and experience. Unfortunately this movie’s script doesn’t offer enough for her to work with so we can see more of her acting range. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender do excellent in this film. Jennifer Lawrence gives everything she’s got in this movie which I appreciate very much. The only reason this movie was even watchable was the actor’s performances. They tried their best.
The film focuses on the concept of family. This is the worst film of all the X-men movies. It’s very stupid to think that Jean Grey would just conveniently forget that the X-men are her family and that they take care of each other. Even with the whole Phoenix force story line, you can tell that the film is written by a guy who doesn’t understand the Marvel universe as well as he should. It’s also very obvious that he does not know how to properly write a female character. It’s very embarrassing. I was in the theater watching this movie and wondering “why did I pay full price to see this garbage”. The film was so bad that it was pulled out of over 2000 theater due to poor performance and bombed at the box office so hard, it cost the studio money.
The cinematography is above average. The lighting wardrobe, set dressing, and color are well done. The movie’s script has so many problems that if I were to write them down in this article, you would be reading this all day. As a film critic I can tell you that this film is written like very bad fan fiction and it not worthy to be a part of the Marvel franchise or any Hollywood studio. Why anyone remade a film that bombed the first time is beyond me. This is one of the worst Marvel films and a terrible way to end franchise. X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) was better, slightly.
