The top 10 British Actress movies
Score: 7/10
Director: Adam Randall
Stars: Maisie Williams, Bill Milner, Miranda Richardson.
Synopsis: After being shot, Tom wakes from a coma to discover that fragments of his smart phone have been embedded in his head and even worse, that returning to normal teenage life is impossible because he has developed a strange set of superpowers.
Review: Tom ( Bill Milner ) lives in a very bad neighborhood in England. One day one of Tom’s friends named Lucy ( Maisie Williams ) invites Tom over to her house to study for the schools final exams. He goes to Lucy’s home and finds her under attack by a group of local gang members. He runs away and they shoot him, putting him in the hospital. There the doctor tells Tom that his cell phone is stuck in his brain. Wow!?
Maisie Williams character ‘Lucy’ is a young girl who is not really able to come to terms with what happened to her when she was attacked. Maisie does an amazing job as always at such a young age. Her acting is sincere. Bill Milner does a solid job as Tom the iBoy. The whole movie is well cast. You can tell that the creators of this movie focused on the quality of production. Even with a questionable story line like ‘a guy has a cell phone stuck in his brain‘, the movie is still actually good.
The film focuses on the concept of vigilante justice. We have seen this concept over and over again. From Batman to Superman. This movie shows the audience how a vigilante can cause an effect on not only gangs and criminals but society as well. People start to believe that the iBoy is a hero. In contrast we also get to see how being a vigilante is very dangerous and how taking justice in your own hands can put you are your family at extreme risk. At some point the hero would ask them selves if it was worth it putting their family at risk. But of course this is typical superhero film so a lot of real world logic goes out the window and makes the film very predicable.
This movie seems like a teenaged boys fantasy. Yes, microchips in peoples head are a real thing. Just look up wireless prosthetic limbs and you’ll see people moving prosthetic arms with their thoughts. These chips are implanted into the patients head by a brain surgeon. This movie reminds me of the film Wanted (2008) with James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, and Angelina Jolie, how a nerdy guy is some how special over night and is the main focus of the movie. This film also reminds me of the video game Watch Dogs by Ubisoft (2014). In fact the movie is just like a video game. Of course Tom wearing his hoodie is just like Elliot Alderson from Mr. Robot. Elliot has done something similar in the first season by taking down Vera’s gang of drug dealers. Elliot used realistic pentesting to get what he wanted. Sadly for Elliot his mission did not go so well.
Very entertaining movie. I cant say this movie has a unique concept. The cinematography and effects are beyond excellent. The lighting is superb. The musical score is perfect for the scenes. The pacing and editing are great. If nothing else this movie is very interesting. The story is always pushed forward with some crazy situations. Not a very deep or philosophical movie. It is a superhero film after all. The film is a good watch.
