The top 10 British Actress movies
Score: 8/10
Director: Fernando Meirelles
Stars: Rachel Weisz, Ralph Fiennes.
Synopsis: In a remote area of Northern Kenya, activist Tessa Quayle (Rachel Weisz) is found brutally murdered. Tessa’s companion, a doctor, appears to have fled the scene, and the evidence points to a crime of passion. Haunted by remorse and jarred by rumors of his late wife’s infidelities, Mr. Quayle surprises everyone by embarking on a personal odyssey that will take him across three continents.
Review: Tessa (Rachel Weisz) is an outspoken activist that wants to protect the interests of the African people. Her outbursts toward the corporate elites put her on their radar. She is very charming and knows how to manipulate just about anyone. She will stop at almost nothing to get what she wants. She reaches high in her ambitions, but reached too high and paid a critical price for it.
In this film the a major pharmaceutical company is charging the Kenyan people higher than normal prices for HIV medication. The conspiracy is that the donated medication is either being delayed on propose and/or it expires, then it is distributed to the people so that the medication has no effect, leaving only the option to buy the over priced medicine making the pharmaceutical company richer.
The Kenyan peoples insurance has been canceled and the only way to receive medical care is to agree to a new clinical trail. It is said that a new strain of tuberculoses is on the rise. Tessa’s idea in this film is to black mail the pharmaceutical company and some members of the British government in order to stop the TB clinical trails. The pharmaceutical company has not perfected the formula so there are people having severe adverse reaction to the medicine. Instead of the company going back to the drawing board and perfecting the medicine in a laboratory, the company wants to cheat by fixing the trails to look successful and mass produce the medicine, knowing about the high chance of toxic effects.
This film definitely tell a story. This is a long movie that slowly builds up to what is really happing behind the scenes of this story. Maybe other choices would have been better for the characters to make. I have to say this movie looks and sounds a lot like Far Cry 2 the video game, it really does. This is a good story kind of movie, not a film with lots of action or large explosions. The film is shot well. The cinematography captures realism very well. It makes you feel like this movie world could be real.
