The top 10 British Actress movies
Score: 3/10
Director: Frank Coraci
Stars: Kate Beckinsale, Christopher Walken, David Hasselhoff, Adam Sandler.
Synopsis: A workaholic finds a universal remote that allows him to fast-forward to different parts of his life.
Review: Michael Newman (Adam Sandler) is not satisfied with his life. He wants to be a partner of the company he works so bad that he neglects his wife Donna Newman (Kate Beckinsale) and his children. One day at a store called ‘Bed, Bath, And Beyond’ he comes across a remote control that allows him to fool around with time its self. Instead of respecting such a device and thinking things through, he decides to childishly use the device with reckless abandon. This causes a major malfunction in the remote which thrusts Michael forward in time all the while teaching him a valuable lesson about loving his family, how family come first, and to be grateful for the things you do have ( very cheesy ).
WARNING: This is an Adam Sandler movie. Proceed with caution!
This is the worst movie of Kate Bekinsale’s career. I wonder how much money they paid her to play in this ‘film’. She is reduced top a stock housewife with no personality of any kind. More like a run of the mill cyborg from Ghost in the Shell (2017), soulless. She is the number one actress on this web site and one of the best British actress hands down. She has played in very complex movies and very dynamic characters in films like Nothing but the Truth (2008), ever evolving characters like Selene from the Underworld series, the villainess Lori from Total Recall (2012), U.S. Marshal Stetko from Whiteout (2009), and so forth. This film does her no justice at all and of all people she could be working with, she is working with Adam Sandler!
The film focuses on the concept of appreciation. How can a guy call himself a ‘man’ if he is not even in control of his own life? For Michael, he decides to use a remote control to fast forward his life to the good parts like some adolescent child instead of taking responsibility the way a grown adult should. Now taking into account that this is a comedy and not to be taken seriously, its just stupid to watch this play out and see how the main protagonist severely hurts his family in the process.
The cinematography is mediocre. The lighting, backgrounds, set dressing, and wardrobe are middle of the road. The ’aged’ makeup is horrible, the CGI is worse than video game pre rendered FMV’s of the time. The film could have been just OK if the comedic effects where not imposed onto the story. Buried deep in this movie is a story that is interesting. There are much better films to watch other than this. Watch any other Kate Beckinsale film and skip this one.
